About Sleep Apnea Syndrome

At our clinic, we offer comprehensive care for Sleep Apnea Syndrome (SAS), a condition that can have serious effects on your overall health if left untreated. One of the key advantages of our clinic is that both simple and detailed tests for sleep apnea can be conducted using at-home testing kits. This means there is no need for hospitalization, allowing patients to complete the tests in the comfort of their own home.

What Is Sleep Apnea Syndrome?

Sleep apnea is a disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep, causing poor sleep quality and low oxygen levels in the body. It can result in daytime fatigue, impaired concentration, and, in severe cases, lead to serious health issues such as:

  • Hypertension

  • Heart disease

  • Stroke

  • Type 2 diabetes

  • Depression

The most common type is Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), where the airway becomes blocked during sleep, often due to the relaxation of throat muscles.

Common Symptoms of Sleep Apnea

You may be suffering from sleep apnea if you experience the following symptoms:

  • Loud snoring

  • Breathing pauses or gasping for air during sleep

  • Frequent awakenings during the night

  • Morning headaches

  • Daytime fatigue or drowsiness

  • Difficulty concentrating or memory problems

Our Diagnostic Process for Sleep Apnea

We offer two types of at-home sleep apnea tests to make the diagnosis process convenient and stress-free for our patients.

  1. Simple Screening Test
A portable device is sent to your home. This test is easy to set up and measures your oxygen levels, breathing patterns, and snoring to detect signs of sleep apnea.

  2. Comprehensive Sleep Study
For a more detailed and accurate diagnosis, we provide an advanced at-home testing kit. This test measures a wider range of parameters, including heart rate, brain activity, and sleep stages, giving a thorough assessment of your sleep health.

Features of Our At-Home Testing Kits

  • No need for hospitalization – Our clinic partners with Philips, allowing us to provide reliable at-home testing and treatment options.

  • Convenient and stress-free – There is no need for an overnight hospital stay, making it easier to fit the test into your daily life.

  • High diagnostic accuracy – Even with at-home testing, you can expect reliable results to ensure an accurate diagnosis.

Treatment Options

If you are diagnosed with Sleep Apnea Syndrome, we will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. Treatment options include:

  • Lifestyle Changes – We support patients with weight management and reduction of alcohol consumption, which can improve sleep apnea symptoms.

  • Oral Appliance Therapy – For patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea, we may recommend a custom-fitted mouthpiece to keep the airway open during sleep.

  • CPAP Therapy (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) – For patients with more severe cases, CPAP devices provide a constant flow of air to keep the airway open during sleep.

Why Early Diagnosis Is Important

Sleep apnea often goes undiagnosed, as patients may not be aware they have the condition. However, early diagnosis and treatment can significantly reduce health risks associated with sleep apnea.

If you experience daytime drowsiness, persistent fatigue, or have been told you snore loudly, please consult with us. Addressing sleep apnea early can help improve your overall health and prevent serious complications.
